How to Keep a Man Interested in You After the First Date! Great Keys to Keeping His Attention

2010-08-08

The first date can be a plethora of sorts. It can either make or break your deal with any guy. This is why it is absolutely crucial that you strike a balance between all aspects of the date. This article focuses on how to keep any man interested in you after you've gone out for the first time, so naturally, the tips will be all about the first date.

Know what to wear.
What you wear says everything about who you are and what your motives are. Although your favorite LBD (that's little black dress, for you missies) may be your GT (go to) for every event, the first date may not be the best event to wear it to. It can either spell too drab, or too provocative. You do not want to project drab, because it tells your date you aren't much of a person, and you wouldn't want provocative because after the guy has had his way, he won't think there's anything else to get to know.

Spray sparingly.
You want to come out as fresh and clean as possible, so you may spray a tad too much perfume which can send your date's head spinning (farther and farther away). Choose a scent that speaks about you. The sweetest scents are floral and feminine. Spray one to two scents on your wrists and rub your wrists on your neck, nape and back of your ears. You're all set. It's subtle and sexy, but not too overwhelming.

Keep your makeup to a minimum.
You are not going to shoot for a film, so it's best and modest that you keep your makeup as natural-looking as possible. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone, and apply as little as possible. Apply concealer only where needed. And opt for a peach blush just to give you an innocent glow and not make you look like you've been punched in the face. Choose a lip color that's not too bright and glaring. You want to look as natural as possible. If he is going to dive in for a kiss, he will only be turned off by globs and globs of sticky lip gloss.

Read the newspaper.
Imagine an awkward situation: You are sitting across each other and have nothing to say to each other. Who starts a conversation? Or, worse, if he does start a conversation, what would you say? Reading the newspaper, or being aware of the current affairs around you says a lot. It tells the guy you are interested in your environment and in your society, and he will respect you for it.

Put a lid on it.
He may ask you stuff about yourself, and of course, in an effort to get closer to know him, you may start spilling everything you aren't supposed to. Do don't talk about anything negative - your issues with money, your issues with your parents, your issues with your ex are not good topics to talk about! You will only send the message that you are a bagload of trouble that he does not want to be involved with.

Learn to smile and laugh.
A great laughter when shared makes things even lighter, and keeps you away from awkward silence. So if he does attempt to pull a joke, laugh along and show him your cheerful side. You will definitely feel better, and so will your date. This will tell you that you're easy to get along with, and have positive energy around you.

Let him walk you home. Keyword: Walk
If he has a car, let him walk you to your doorstep. If he doesn't and wants to take a cab, tell him you want to walk a little. It gives a slow but memorable finish to a great date. When you do get to your place, fall into the motions. If he leans in for a hug, go for it. If he leans in for a kiss, but you don't feel like it, lean in for a kiss on the cheek. Then say good-bye, and close the door. Do not let him in, and you will see him again for a second date.
